On Korinthion V, the war between the Iron Warriors and the Ultramarines has been continuing ferociously on the planet's high plains, where the landscape is pocketed with industrial refining complexes. In contrast to the skirmishes in the planet's war-ravaged cities, on the plains the Ultramarines appear to have the upper hand, having inflicted a succession of crushing defeats on the IVth Legion. Both Legions have deployed the latest additions to their armouries: Javelin attack speeders in the case of the Ultramarines; Sabre Strike tanks in the case of the Iron Warriors. Nevertheless, the Iron Warriors have found it impossible to reverse their run of defeats.

The Iron Warriors' tactics remain the same: namely to forestall the Ultramarines' advance before their elite assault units can take out, or at least tie up the IVth Legion' deadly heavy support teams. The Ultramarines' Veterans have proved devastatingly effective with their outflanking manoeuvres, arriving behind the Iron Warriors' lines seemingly impossibly quickly, thanks to their Damocles Command rhino.

In the latest battle, the Iron Warriors managed to seize the initiative and move first, taking the opportunity to launch a series of bombardments with their full complement of heavy armour, Siege Tyrant Terminators and Quad batteries. It seemed at first that the IVth Legion had scuppered the Ultramarines' advance before it could get going, wiping out a Predator and a Sicaran, as well as the XIIIth Legion's Damocles command rhino. The Ultramarines' Deredeo Dreadnought remained resilient throughout the battle, stubbornly weathering every fusillade aimed its way, and inflicting damage each time it took aim.
Recognising the threat, the Iron Warriors dispatched a Terrax Pattern Termite with a crack squad of veteran tank hunters to destroy the dreadnought, but the Termite veered wildly off course, leaving the veterans stranded, unable to get around the plain's rock formations to the Deredeo.
In the meantime, the Ultramarines' Land Raider and Spartan were able to rumble up the battlefield allowing the XIIIth Legion's elite units to charge the Iron Warriors' front line. The Suzerain Invictarii made short work of the Siege Tyrant terminators, while the Ultramarines' terminators quickly brushed off a simultaneous charge from a IVth Legion Contemptor and an Iron Circle battle automaton. Meanwhile, the XIIIth Legion's Javelins deep striked behind the IVth Legion's front lines, launching their krak missiles at the Iron Warriors' basilisks. The IVth Legion tried to fight on, but with the Ultramarines' veteran squads pouring in from the flanks it was hopeless, and the battle was over.
