The Crimson Fist: progress update on the VIIth Legion

It has been a busy summer, and I have made good progress on the new Legion I started at the beginning of the Covid-19 lockdown back in March. I have completed my second Breacher Squad, a new tactical support squad with melta guns and made good progress on my HQ, Alexis Polux, the Crimson Fist.

Alexis Polux
Alexis Polux - The Crimson Fist - Captain of the 405th Company

Why Polux?  I think his statistics are pretty good for any praetor, but more importantly, you paint Imperial Fists because you love Space Marines with Shields.  The close-combat specialist unit I am going with is a quad of Tartaros Terminators with Vigil Pattern Storm Shields and a mix of Power- and Chain-fists. Alexis Polux may not have terminator armour, but he does have an Iron Halo, and of course his mighty Power-Fist with built-in combi-melta.  I think Polux will complement the Tartaros terminators well, and of course, they can get round the battlefield much more quickly than Cataphractii.

The tactical support squad with melta guns should be a pretty deadly unit in a Termite - certainly the Iron Warriors have made good use of their squad in a Termite on many an occasion.  I'm not planning on playing Stone Gauntlet, so I won't be limited in my Fast Attack options.  However, if I do play Stone Gauntlet, I do at least have the compulsory two squads of Breachers now.  At some point I will have to paint my Phalanx Warders, I guess, but not this year,

My VIIth Legion now stands at 31 Tactical Marines, 20 Breachers, 6 Tactical Support Marines with melta guns and Alexis Polux. Pretty good progress in 6 months.  Next up are those Tartaros Terminators and a couple of Contemptor Dreadnoughts.
