Sector Mechanicus Update and Painting Guide
It is a Summer of Scenery again, and I have resumed painting my Sector Mechanicus scenery. These platforms and storage tanks are going to look fantastic on my new Pwork wargame mats, representing a mining or industrial facility.
Platform Painting Guide:
- Prime Chaos Black
- Base Coat Zandri Dust and then Ushabti Bone
- As shown by Duncan on Warhammer TV: mix a few drops of Mournfang Brown in a pot of Lahmian Medium and wash heavily over the platforms and barriers. Pat off the excess with kitchen towel so the wash lightly stains the ushabti bone, but remains in the recesses
- Dry brush (large drybrush) with Screaming Skull
- Base coar the pipes / wires etc Mournfang brown.
- Base coat the wires Khorne Red, the pipes Hashut Copper and any other metal work Leadbelcher. Wash with Agrax Earthshade.
- Use a piece of plucking foam to sponge weather a mix of 50:50 Eshin Grey and Abaddon Black, trying to catch edges and create a chipped paint effect
- Lightly base coat the edges of the platforms with Serahim Sepia to get a stained effect.
- Go back over the edges with Seraphim Sepia, painting thin lines to emphasise rust streaks
- The barriers are pretty much the same.
Thanks for this and your other posts regarding this terrain set. I gave you a shout out on my set I'm working on. https://sethpaints.blogspot.com/2024/06/painting-ryza-sector-mechanicus.html
