On the Spear of Konor, the Ultramarines intercept a IVth Legion vox communication, revealing the upcoming personal movements of the Iron Warriors' Warsmith, Varyk Morghalis. The XIIIth Legion's Praetor, Severus Furo, summons the Invictarus Suzerain Squad that comprises his personal bodyguard and leads an interception against the IVth Legion. Expecting some stern resistance, both his bodyguard and a second Suzerain Invictarus squad bring a couple of thunder hammers.

The Ultramarines quickly move through the ship, cutting off the IVth Legion's battle group, with their Contemptors linking up to take a firm grip of the corridor running the width of the deck. However, things don't go all the Ultramarines' way, with the perfidious IVth Legion's breacher squad using their melta guns to fell one of the Ultramarines' dreadnoughts. However, the Ultramarines' own breachers inflict heavy losses on the IVth Legion's Tyrant Siege Terminator Squad, and somehow manage to withstand two volleys from the Iron Warriors' Contemptor Dreadnoughts. With half their force falling back in disarray and losing one of their Contemptors to Severus Furo's bodyguard, the IVth Legion's Warsmith is forced to retire.
