That is a lot of drybrushing |
All Summer I have been assembling structures and painting the cityscape boards and terrain. But Summer is over and that means so is terrain season. I didn't quite finish all the terrain I wanted to paint, and it is all painted to a basic level, but maybe next year I can paint the details (it's always maybe next year). To celebrate, we had a small game on the new boards with the Spear of Konor sending a small expeditionary force to the lunar base on Navartis, from which the Iron Warriors have been supplying and managing their assault on the Ultramarines' fleet.

Great for Siege Tyrants, not so good for terminators without a ride |
The terrain is ideal for the IVth Legion's Tyrant Siege Terminators and they lived up to their promise, quickly stripping hull points off the Ultramarines' Deredeo Dreadnought. With only rhinos at their disposal (I need to paint that Land Raider and Spartan quickly), the Ultramarines had to trudge their Cataphractii and Suzerain bodyguard up the battlefield on foot, behind the APCs lest they fall prey to the Siege Tyrants. The Iron Warriors' Domitar Ferrum Battle Automaton was a lurking menace, ready to wield his graviton maul with devestating effect if any dreadnoughts came too close. In the end, though, the Ultramarines managed to grind out a victory, largely successfully avoiding the firing arcs of the Tyrant Siege Terminators.
