Spear of Konor Campaign: the IVth Legion's 31st Grand Company are driven further back

Campaign Update: Spear of Konor Mission 7

Having seized the initiative from the Iron Warriors' 31st Grand Company and stopped their incursion deeper into the Spear of Konor, the Ultramarines kept up the momentum, harrying the IVth Legion as it attempted to fall back and regroup.  The Iron Warriors hurriedly brought up a tactical support unit armed with melta guns to try to counter the XIIIth Legion's dreadnought, who had been so effective in the previous encounter between the two forces.  A heavy support unit with volkite culverins was also sent to the battlefront to mow down any infantry units.

However, the Ultramarines' advance never let up, with a unit of breachers sent forward in the first wave, along with the Contemptor Dreadnought, Agrippus.  His Kheres Assault cannon soon had the Iron Warriors' heavy support team falling back.  Meanwhile the Breacher team bravely stood firm in the face of one withering salvo of bolter fire after another from the Iron Warriors' tactical squads, and managed to keep the Iron Warriors' Melta team pinned back with the wash from their graviton guns long enough for another tactical unit to come up and finish the job.

As well as buying time for a tactical squad to make it to the main fighting, the Breachers also managed to survive long enough for the Ultramarines' Invictarus Suzerain unit to arrive.  Once in position, they charged the Iron Warriors' vanguard tactical unit, who made a brave stand against the Invictarii's fearsome legatine axes. After decimating the IVth Legion's tactical unit they swept forwards, charging the 31st Grand Company's Battle Automaton, shrugging off the fire from its Olympia pattern bolt cannon and quickly immobilising it before it had a chance to swing its terrifying graviton maul.  Meanwhile the Ultramarines' Contemptor finished off the remaining traitor tactical squad, and the battle was won, and the retreating Iron Warriors forced into a rout.
