Expendable firepower

I have finally completed the 2 tactical squads I have been working on since October to complement the 30 Breachers and 2 tactical support units that the 31st Grand Company can call upon.  The points cost of a 15-strong tactical squad, compared to an equivalent Breacher squad, or even just a 10-strong squad, is hard to ignore, especially when factoring in the extra firepower.  Breachers are very useful, but are expensive and the less firepower per point can be telling when faced with close-combat units that they will struggle to wound.  The extra overwatch of a larger tactical squad can be vital.  Of course the Iron Warriors are handicapped by the fact they don't have any specialist close-combat units to call upon; they are masters of siege warfare.  The XIIIth Legion, in contrast, have the Suzerain Invictarii and Praetorian Breachers with power swords (not that I have painted the unit of the latter that I assembled and primed in the Summer).  So the tactical squads could be a useful addition to the units the IVth Legion can deploy on the Spear of Konor.
