Spear of Konor: The Iron Warriors deploy a Domitar Ferrum battle automaton with devastating effect

Spear of Konor Campaign Update: Mission 4

Domitar Ferrum battle automata

With their initial attempts to establish a beachhead on the Spear of Konor repulsed, the Iron Warriors' 31st Grand Company decided to deploy one of their Domitar Ferrum battle automata to turn the odds. Kronis "the Hammer" had built a reputation over several campaigns for his uncompromising devotion to the Legion and his ability to turn a battle just when it appeared as if all was lost.  It was also clear to those who had fought beside him that he was merciless when fighting those loyal to the Emperor.

As well as The Hammer ,The IVth Legion sent in two 15-strong Breacher Squads, a 10-strong tactical support unit armed with Volkite calivers and a unit of Cataphractii terminators.  The Ultrmarine XXth Chapter sent a force comprising a 10-strong Suzerain Invictarus unit, a 5-man unit of Cataphractii terminators, two 10-strong tactical squads, a 10-strong breacher squad and a support squad armed with heavy flamers. With the Suzerain Invictarii having had such a destructive impact the last time they were deployed, the XIIIth Legion was confident that they could repel the traitors once more.

The battle was fought as a Search and Destroy mission, with the Iron Warriors' aim again being to capture 3 tactical objectives and strengthen their hold on the starboard 3rd deck of the Spear of Konor. The battle turned on the Iron Warriors' ability to outmanoeuvre the Suzerain Invictarus squad, and keep the Invictarii away from their battle automaton.  For the entire battle, the Invictarii were pinned back by the tactial squad armed with volkite calivers, powerless to reach the main combat where The Hammer was showing how he earned his moniker.  The battle automaton easily bludgeoned a tactical squad, and when he charged the Ultramarines' Praetor and his bodyguard of Cataphractii, his Hammer of Wrath and subsequent follow-up attacks were sufficient to despatch 3 of the Catphractii.  The XXth Chapter's Praetor managed to escape, but the IVth Legion had won the day and succeeded in building their beachhead.
