An Iron Circle Domitar Ferrum Battle Automaton for the IVth Legion

 

Reinforcements arrive for the Iron Warriors

Untiring servants of Peturabo, the Domitar Ferrum Battle Automata

To strengthen their attack on the XIIIth Legion's frigate, the Spear of Konor, the Iron Warrirors prepare one of their rare Iron Circle Domitar Ferrum Battle Automata, Kronis "the Hammer" .



Built to Peturabo's own design, their sole purpose is to brutally smash any
resistance

 

Painting the Domitar Ferrum Battle Automaton was a joy, and a chance to experiment with some new weathering techniques.  I thought about painting around the rivets with a wash made from GW's Doombull brown and Lahman medium, but I chose to use a couple of the Vallejo rust washes instead.  The effect was the same, and I am pretty pleased with it.  I used GW's Nihilakh Oxide paint to weather some of the aged Bronze on the model.



One automaton could find life difficult against a squad of  Ultramarine
Suzerain Invictarii, but a brace should be able to win most close combats

The model took a week to paint and I am looking to add another.  Two Domitar Ferrum Battle Automata ought to be able to handle a 10-strong Suzerain Invictarus squad sent at them; one by itself  is likely to quickly become scrap metal.  Like all my Iron Warriors, he has been based on one of the urban bases from Tiny Worlds, and I think he looks suitably imposing.
