An Iron Circle Domitar Ferrum Battle Automaton for the IVth Legion
Reinforcements arrive for the Iron Warriors
Untiring servants of Peturabo, the Domitar Ferrum Battle Automata |
To strengthen their attack on the XIIIth Legion's frigate, the Spear of Konor, the Iron Warrirors prepare one of their rare Iron Circle Domitar Ferrum Battle Automata, Kronis "the Hammer" .
Built to Peturabo's own design, their sole purpose is to brutally smash any resistance |
Painting the Domitar Ferrum Battle Automaton was a joy, and a chance to experiment with some new weathering techniques. I thought about painting around the rivets with a wash made from GW's Doombull brown and Lahman medium, but I chose to use a couple of the Vallejo rust washes instead. The effect was the same, and I am pretty pleased with it. I used GW's Nihilakh Oxide paint to weather some of the aged Bronze on the model.
One automaton could find life difficult against a squad of Ultramarine Suzerain Invictarii, but a brace should be able to win most close combats |
The model took a week to paint and I am looking to add another. Two Domitar Ferrum Battle Automata ought to be able to handle a 10-strong Suzerain Invictarus squad sent at them; one by itself is likely to quickly become scrap metal. Like all my Iron Warriors, he has been based on one of the urban bases from Tiny Worlds, and I think he looks suitably imposing.
"I am the shield of Olympia, and the Hammer of the IVth Legion" |
We should soon see him joining his Legion's incursion into the Spear of Konor.
