Having been repelled from their forward positions by the Ultramarines, the Iron Warriors prepare to make a second incursion deeper into the
Spear of Konor. The success with which the
XIIIth Legion managed to push back the Iron Warriors' Breacher Squads and Cataphractii Terminators suggested further advances would benefit from some greater tactical support. It was decided, therefore, that a 5-strong squad with Volkite Calivers might quickly be outgunned by any flamer units, and therefore a 10-strong squad might offer more substantive support.

The sharp-eyed will notice I painted 6 miniatures, including another sergeant, which gives the option of deploying a 10-man squad or two 5-man squads. As far as painting the IVth Legion goes, I don't spend as long edge highlighting the Iron Warriors as I do the Ultramarines, relying on this simple technique for the iron armour, mostly:
- Base coat Leadbelcher
- Dry brush Iron Breaker downwards in a zenith fashion
- Wash with a 50:50 mix of Agrax Earthshade / Nuln oil
- Light drybrush with Iron Breaker any raised areas
- Highlight any particular edges like fingers and around the greaves with a fine line of Iron Breaker
